Uncertainty.
Finally
understood.*
It’s not magic. It’s measurement. I’ll help you understand uncertainty, evaluate it thoughtfully and put it to work.
Meet the shape
of uncertainty.
Switch distributions. Move the slider. See where standard uncertainty comes from. This is where intuition begins.
Values near the centre are more likely. For a normal distribution, standard uncertainty equals σ. The distribution has no finite bounds.
Educational model: symmetric distributions, central value 0 µm. Choose a distribution based on information, not its appearance. This is not a complete uncertainty budget.
From “not sure”
to “I get it”.
No jumping in at the deep end. Start with the question that’s on your mind.
Explore all guides↗Measurement uncertainty: what does it tell you about a result?
Understand uncertainty, error and tolerance, and learn how to interpret results reported with standard or expanded uncertainty.
Read the guide ↗Type A and Type B: two routes to standard uncertainty
Learn when s/√n applies, how to use calibration certificates and why Type A and Type B are not synonyms for random and systematic effects.
Read the guide ↗Rectangular, triangular or normal? Choosing a distribution
Match distributions to evidence and correctly convert bounds, resolution and certificate information into standard uncertainties.
Read the guide ↗An uncertainty budget step by step: a length example
Build a budget from three independent contributions, calculate combined and expanded uncertainty, and check the units and assumptions.

Just be curious.
I’ll take you from your first question to your own budget. Real examples, at your pace.
Meet
VEGA↗
Understand your model. Then let a tool handle the calculations. VEGA helps organise your uncertainty budget and work with it thoughtfully.
- +An organised uncertainty budget
- +Type A and Type B evaluation
- +From result to measurement decision
A budget you can explain.

ARTUR KOPA / METRICAHi, I’m
Artur.
I teach metrology the way I’d want to learn it: start with meaning, work through an example, then do it yourself.
I help quality professionals and laboratories put measurement requirements into practice. I bring training, coaching and digital tools together. A correctly calculated result is only the beginning — you need to know what to do with it.
Meet your coach↗What would you like
to understand?↗
Tell me what you measure and where you’re stuck. We’ll work out whether training, coaching or VEGA is the right next step.
